Happy Quilters..but Sam, not so much!

We just received copies of this VERY special new book from Quiltmania, Meanderings of a Quilt Collector, by Jane Lury.  It is absolutely breathtaking and full of exquisite color photos of her collection of antique quilts.  Jane shares her passion for collecting and lots of information and social history about the quilts.   If you love antique quilts & fabrics, and quilt history then this book is a must have addition to your library.
Meanderings of a Quilt Collector by Jane Lury $90.00

Also new to our shelves this week is a selection from Bed of RosesWe have 12 of the pretty florals in soft buttercup yellow, cornflower blue, ivory, and faded red. And they sit perfectly on the shelf alongside Esprit Maison by Robyn Pandolph ~ plenty of mix and match ideas there!
#1 Bed of Roses $27.50m

#2 Bed of Roses $27.50m

#3 Bed of Roses $27.50m
#4 Bed of Roses $27.50m

Bed of Roses and Esprit Maison sit beautifully together
The car is packed to the brim and Corliss is on her way to the Waverley Patchworkers Quilt Show this weekend with the shop.  It's always a terrific show with beautiful quilts, cafe and shops ~ Saturday & Sunday at the Mount Waverley Community Centre, Miller Crescent,  Mount Waverley.  Click here for all the details.
One Threadbear staff member is definitely less than impressed that his mum will be at the Waverley Quilt Show for the whole weekend.  Sam is always very unhappy when he sees the car being packed up and has been known to sit in the back of the car hoping to stow away amongst the fabrics...sorry not this weekend Sammy! Have a great weekend everyone! ......(and cheer up Sam)

Giggleswick Mill ~ cute name , Gorgeous fabric!

Di Ford-Hall's much anticipated second fabric collection with Andover Fabrics arrived at Threadbear on Tuesday afternoon.  We were so looking forward to seeing Di's beautiful designs and colours, and they are certainly every bit as stunning as we expected. The complete collection is on our website for you to look at ~ click here ~ with 26 different pieces in all.  The feature floral is an authentic reproduction of a 19thC Chintz.
#1 Giggleswick Mill $24.00m
It lends itself perfectly to borders, piecing, as well as broderie perse applique.  However you use it, this fabric is a jaw-dropper. The flowers are soft washed tones of pink, gold, teal and green, and vary according to the background colour - ircky brown, light teal, or faded french red. The beautiful border print, again in three colourways, can be used as it is, or fussy cut in so many different ways. And the 20 supporting prints are all fantastic additions to any quilt or your stash.  We've already started sending out orders for Giggleswick Mill and they are coming in thick and fast so if you think you'd like some for your next project, you can order through our website, or phone us at the shop.
#2 Giggleswick Mill $24.00m

#3 Giggleswick Mill $24.00m
#4 Giggleswick Mill $24.00m
We always love helping our customers choose fabrics for a new project.  So when Katrina from Orange NSW came in on Tuesday afternoon to find fabrics to make Letters from Belton Grange, we had a great time helping her find bits and pieces to blend with the Giggleswick Mill border she chose - straight out of the box!
Sam has been super busy at home this week helping Kurt in the shed, so when he did come into the shop for a visit, he headed straight for his favourite chair and somewhere to lay his weary head!  We hope you can find some time to do whatever you love best and enjoy some stitching.  Have a great weekend everyone!

So much inspiration!

What a fabulous day we last Saturday with our Passionate Piecers Group.  Lesley Bowe was our guest speaker and she very kindly brought along "a few" quilts to share with the Group ~ 28 to be precise!  She has made lots more, but she's given them all away!!  Thanks again Lesley for your time and generosity - and for packing up all those wonderful quilts to inspire us.   Later in the day we all enjoyed show and tell as always.   Here's a sample of what we saw.  Some were "in progress", some newly finished, some were from the vault - but all were gorgeous and left us all feeling motivated to pick up a needle!

Newly arrived today is Quiltmania #113 May/June.  This issue is packed with 6 new projects, the third part of Petra Prins' Mystery Quilt, reports from the American Quilt Study Group seminar, and the 13th Quilt Nihon Exhibition (Japan), plus lots more!  We'll be posting it out to all our subscribers tomorrow, but there are still some copies left for the shop.  Phone us if you'd like us to send you one.

Winter is almost upon us and everyone knows the best way to stay warm is with a cozy spot inside under a quilt ...or in Sam's case,...on top of a quilt!  We hope you enjoy some time sewing in your coziest spot too as the nights get longer.  Have a great weekend everyone!
