Di Ford-Hall's beautiful Bally Hall ~ now taking orders

CLOSED Melbourne Cup Day ~ 1st November

She's done it again!  Di has come up with yet another drop-dead-gorgeous range of fabrics that are just too good to resist.  Take a good long look at these swatches from Andover Fabrics' website and be ready to drool folks.  Bally Hall is inspired by chintz prints from the 1800s in Di's choice of antique pink, brown, teal, green, primrose yellow, and cream. We are loving the birds and the border print, .. and the all over floral with birds, ...and the plaid, ...and the wavy serpentine, ...and, and, and..well all of them really!  With 28 fabrics in all, here is just a sample of what's on the way!

To see all 28 fabrics in the collection, click here . The great news is, this range will be coming to Threadbear and we are taking pre-orders NOW.  The bad news is, we all have to wait until March 2017 before it's available in shops.  But, just think how much time that gives us all to finish a project before this luscious new fabric arrives .  AND, just in time for the release of Di's second book for QuiltMania being released in April 2017 which we have already started taking orders for.  Just phone or email us to reserve your copy now!

Sam is busy today helping us prepare everything for our workshop with Katrina Hadjimichael this weekend. There's equipment to organise, chocolates to bag, goody bags to put together, chocolates to bag, fabrics to package, did I mention chocolates to bag?  OK Sam, you can stop helping now ....please!  Have a great weekend everyone.  We certainly will!

Step away from the Malteasers!!
SAM OUTTAKES -- the photos Sammy DIDN'T want you to see!
Well, you wouldn't let me have the chocolates so....

Don't even look at me!

Looking forward to welcoming back Katrina Hadjmichel

We're so looking forward to welcoming Katrina Hadjmichael back again for another 2-day workshop next weekend, October 29th & 30th,  this time to teach Lambton.  Katrina's classes are always in high demand, and we squeezed a couple of extra places in so no-one would miss out.  Today however, 2 ladies have regrettably had to cancel out.  We'll be sorry to miss you Lorraine and Jeanette, and send our best wishes to you both.  However, that means that we do have 2 last minute vacancies available .  If you'd like to join us, phone the shop for all the details.
Katrina's Lambton -
New to Threadbear this week are a handful of stunning fabrics from Andover's new collection, Beckwith.  The fussy cutting possibilities are endless with the feature print - just in time for our class with Katrina Hadjmichel next weekend!  We also picked a fabulous little basket weave/plaid which will make fantastic stems, and a pretty border stripe for framing blocks, or your whole quilt.  These are definitely not to be missed and won't last long.

#1 Beckwith $25.50m

#2  Beckwith $25.50m
#3 Beckwith $25.50m

#4 Beckwith $25.50m
As promised, here is some of the beautiful Show & Tell we enjoyed at our last meeting of our Castlemaine Applique Group. Enjoy!

Sammy was pretty pleased with himself on Tuesday when he found his very favourite giraffe toy he had stashed for safe keeping behind the shed here at the shop.  Even Sam has a stash!  Have a great weekend everyone!

Collection for a Cause ~ Preservation

What a fabulous time we had in Adelaide at the Quilters Guild of South Australia's Festival of Quilts Show & Expo.  Despite facing the worst storm in South Australia in 50 years, a State-wide power blackout as we arrived, torrential rain and grid locked traffic, we got there!  And the warm welcome from the SA girls made it worth the effort!  So thankyou everyone for making it a great weekend.
Threadbear at Adelaide's Festival of Quilts Show & Expo
Speaking of guilds and there quilt shows..., the local Goldfields Quilters are holding their exhibition this weekend, 15th & 16th October at St Mary's Hall, Cnr Hargraves & Lyttleton Streets Castlemaine  Once again the Group has invited Threadbear to bring a trading table and to sponsor the major prize.  You will be assured of a great day in Castlemaine with loads of lovely quilts to inspire you, great cafes, sunny spring weather, and of course that all important fabric therapy!  Threadbear will be open 10am-4pm to match the exhibition this weekend.

Speaking of fabric therapy...last week we were excited to see the newest Collection for a Cause ~ Preservation from Moda.  Reproduced from a quilt from the 1830s, it's every bit as gorgeous as we'd hoped.  The all over florals are ideal for borders, feature blocks, or broderie perse applique.  The tone on tone stripes are brilliant.  And the fussy cutting possibilities in some of the prints are endless.  PLUS, the feature panel is one of those panels that come along every few years.  It's an excellent reproduction and printed three 13" blocks across the width of the fabric.  Click HERE to see the whole collection on our website.

On Saturday Threadbear's Castlemaine Applique Group met and enjoyed another day of stitching, catching up with friends, and some gorgeous quilts. Our scheduled guest speaker had to cancel at the last minute and we all send our very best wishes to Lyn. So we were grateful to Deb, Sue, and Meghan (three of the Secret Sewing Sisterhood) who jumped in on short notice to show us a sample of their quilts both early and recent.  Here are just a few.

We'll have more quilts from our Applique Group to show you next week. The last month in Victoria (and South Australia) have been wet, wet, wet. So what's a boy to do when you have birds to chase and a plastic pig to growl at and shake every morning on the back lawn, but to brave the elements and hope there's someone inside to let you back in and dry off your fur afterwards! Have a great week everyone!
