Old Sturbridge Village Anniversary

Wow, is all we can say to this collection of Judie Rothermel Sturbridge Village classics - re-imagined in a new pallet of colours.  Take a look at the stunning border print in green ombre alternating with a finely detailed medallion print which could be used in so many different ways.  We can see this fabric framing a centre medallion, fussy cut hexagons and stars, appliqued urns and vases, wide outer borders, or even in a strippy quilt.

The iconic vase and flowers print is back but this time in shades of soft greeny teal, deep rose pink and caramel brown on an ecru background ~ perfect for broderie perse or fussy cutting.  Plus, an old favourite spaced floral and paisley print makes a welcome return to the shelves, this time in a teal, rose pink, gold, and brown on creamy beige background.  The supporting prints are all perfect to mix and match with the feature fabrics in gentle butter yellow, apple green, lilac, bone, rose pink, burgundy red, caramel, and blue.

When the winter winds are blowing, where else would any self respecting Spoodle be but inside somewhere warm and cozy with a quilt.  We had a number of photos to show you from Sam's week; however, as he is asleep in ALL of them, we picked just one!  Whatever part of the world you are in, we hope you are as happy and cozy as Sammy.  Have a great week everyone!

Some Cheddars, Shirtings, Orchids, Applique, and very dirty dog!

The last 2 weeks have come and gone in a flash and we have lots to show you today.  New to our shelves is The Sampler II  1870-1890 by Julie Hendrickson for Windham Fabrics.  This second part to Julie's beautiful reproduction collection is all Cheddar and Black, but we chose just the handy Cheddars and the gorgeous shirtings from the range this time.  The prints are all small and finely depicted in black or off-white and are all perfect stash builders.

Wild Orchid is the newest offering from The Blackbird Designs girls.  It's a big range of 34 fabrics with 7 prints in a mix of orchid pink, lilac, coffee, buttercup, clotted cream, and black.   These are so gorgeous and we love the different combination of colours.

Our Applique Group met again last month marking it's ninth year anniversary! The girls travelled from far and wide in the cold weather for another great day and to hear one of our members, Fran Batrouney, talk about her collection of Indian textiles. It was such a treat to hear her stories and see these amazing textiles up close.  Of course, we enjoyed another terrific show and tell too.

Winter has brought plenty of rain to Castlemaine this year and with rain comes the mud, and with the mud comes muddy fur!!  When Sam appeared at the back door last week after an afternoon in the garden he was adamant he was NOT trying to dig under the fence to get to the neighbour's guinea pig, no, definitely not trying to get the pesky guinea pig! Have a great weekend everyone, whatever you are doing!

What a great week it's been at Threadbear with so many ladies coming to see us and wanting help choosing fabrics for their gorgeous new projects. Plus, new fabrics arrived which is always the highlight of any day!  We received some real showstoppers from the Yuwa Live Collection.  The quality of Yuwa fabrics is always superb and the colouring and print is second to none.  We chose this stunning Toile print in two colours depicting traditional french pastoral scenes.  The creamy beige/ecru colouring is soft enough to make a gorgeous background.  The faded french red/ecru colouring is very special ~ perfect for a centre medallion, feature block, backing, border, bags....anything you like!

With so much happening, we've been running low on some of our pre-cut fabrics so it was time to do a pick and choose around the shop to create some new muffins, Dear Jane Bundles, and Shirting Rolls. Not a bad way to spend a wintery day!

Speaking of wintery days.... Threadbear's new Winter Trading Hours mean we will close at 4.00pm on weekdays.  Sam is all for it.  He loves getting home early in winter to watch the footy with Kurt and cheer on the Kangaroos - or chase them as the case may be!  Have a GREAT weekend everyone!
