Books Galore . . .

Last week we showed you the newest gorgeous books from Quilt Mania ~ this week we've chosen more books for you.  The first is "Simple Appeal" by Kim Diehl.  Both books and fabrics by this designer are always beautiful, and this one is no exception.
Simple Appeal ~ $49.00

Another author, Debbie Roberts tempts us with "Baskets, Birds and Boughs ~ Quilts Year 'Round" featuring quilts inspired by nature's beauty.  Another great mix of piecing and applique.
For all of you devotees ~ we have "Jane Austen Quits ~ Inspired by Her Novels" by Karen Gloeggler.  This author designed a quilt inspired by the only one made by Jane Austen and then six more representing each of Jane's six books.
Jane Austen ~ $44.

Lastly we have a great reference book for you:  "Quilter's Academy Vol. 4 ~ A Skill-Building Course in Quiltmaking" by Harriet & Carrie Hargrave.  This is a book full of piecing techniques for complex blocks with excellent photos and diagrams.

Sue Martin visited this week and showed us her stunning 'Dear Jane'.  She completed it using the quilt-as-you-go method.  What a great idea for this very popular quilt.
And this is the Back!

Sam says:  "I'm not sure you all appreciate just how exhausting our work at Threadbear is at times?"  Have a great week everyone. And just a reminder, our EASTER HOURS:
Closed Easter Friday & Sunday   ~  Open Saturday & Monday:  11~2

They just keep expecting More of me!

Millefiori Mania.

We have all gone Millefiori mad.  If you loved Willyne Hammerstein's first book, "Millefiori Quilts" and you love some fussy cutting fun, well you will go completely nuts for "Millefiori Quilts 2".
Quiltmania has done it again with another beautiful book.

"Millefiori Quilts 2" gives us 17  more stunning, amazing projects from Willyne, all of them gorgeous and all of them tempting us to fussy cut to our hearts content.  "Millefiori Quilts 2 " is $72.00 and it is selling fast so call us at the shop if you would like a copy.

And as if that gorgeous book is not enough for one day we have another wonderful Quiltmania publication, " Of Cloth and Thread, pieces of the Past" by Kaye England.

This is such a pretty book, there are photos of some of Kaye's stunning quilts in and around her house and she treats us to amazing photos of some of the antique quits from her incredible collection...and then, 12 great projects for us to drool over.  This book is also $72.00 and you can call us at the shop if you would like a copy of this gorgeous book.

We had a lovely day last Friday with a fun group of girls, Sue, Carol, Sharon and Sharon, all the way from Nowra in NSW.  They spent the day in our classroom, sewing chatting and having fun....it was great to have them visit for the day and we loved meeting them all.

This group of friends are all sewing Megan's gorgeous quilt "The Mary Stubbs Quilt" and Megan is pictured with Sue, a very special member of the group.  Worthy of a photo with Megan for sure, as Sue's full name is Mrs Stubbs.

Sammy is very pleased with himself and you can see his wagging tail....he is helping in the shop and he has located a fabric just perfect for fussy cutting and broderie perse....it surely is Sammy's recommendation of the week.

Have a great weekend everyone, and remember, the weekend is all about sewing time...no dishes and no housework.

Feast your eyes on these stunning border stripes in the "Dargate Treasury" collection by Margo Krager!  Accompanying them are some lovely blenders.  Why didn't we order more ~ these are small bolts ~ don't miss out.
Yummy Dargate Treasury @ $22.50 per metre
1/8th Pack of the Blenders ~ $33.00
NEW BOOKS!!  This year's crop of absolutely fabulous books by Quilt Mania are arriving now.  The first to arrive is:  "New York Beauty ~ Quilts from the Volckening Collection".  This is an amazing collection of quilts across the years and all in the New York Beauty pattern.

Just a reminder that this gorgeous "Arabesque" print from the Dutch Heritage is the fabric that Di Ford Hall has used in her beautiful 'Pendle Hill' quilt.  We are soon placing another order for this fabric so pre-order yours now for this quilt or your own Broderie Perse project.

If you are new to applique, here's a great way to make a start. Or a simple project for that special person in your life for a lovely prezzie.   'My Whimsical Quilt Garden" is a pattern pack from the Piece o' Cake girls ~ very cute.
The joke around the shop is that Sam hops into every chair as it is vacated ~ here you can see he even has luxury seating when at home with Dad.  {really those chairs were just being moved from A to B ~ they don't live outside just for Sam!}
