The sun is shining and it is a Public Holiday here in Victoria as we all celebrate Melbourne Cup Day...so for lots of you we hope that means champagne, nibbles and a whole day of sewing. We are having a great day in the shop with lots of people making the most of their day off with a visit to Castlemaine, and surely a public holiday is the perfect excuse for some stash enhancement.
We have mentioned the "Esprit de Corps Baltimore Quilt" once before and we are thrilled to have this very special quilt visiting Threadbear for a short time....this stunning quilt has been made using Sue Garman's "Friends of Baltimore" pattern by 20 of Victorias best quilters and now it is being offered as an amazing raffle prize. Tickets are $20.00 and all proceeds go to the Caroline Chisholm society, providing pregnancy counseling and family housing support in Melbourne and country Victoria. If you get the chance, come in and see this stunning quilt while it is in the shop...it will take your breath away....and can you imagine being the lucky winner.
And for those who cant make it to the shop we thought we would take you on a shop tour of all the beautiful quilts we have hanging at Threadbear right now..
We have pretty "Maggie Grace", by Di Ford hanging in our window, right next to Corliss's "Antique Applique Sampler".
Megan Carroll's "Worthing Downs" is hanging in the next doorway right by two more of Corliss's quilts, "The English Basket Quilt" and "The Caswell Quilt".
We have Corliss's "Civil War Bride Quilt" is hanging over the door to Kurt's shop and on the opposite wall is our stunning visitor, "Esprit de Corps Baltimore Quilt"
Then on the door to our classroom we have Margaret McDonald's "Heartfelt", and a peak of Megan's "Miss Matty's Parlour" in the classroom.
Wow, seeing all those quilts just makes you want to sew sew sew...unless of course you are Sammy, seems it just makes him want to snooze.
