Quiltmania, Cheddars, and Madders

The latest issue of Quiltmania arrived last week and after sending it to all our subscribers, we still have plenty for the shop.  We're always one issue ahead of the newsagents so you can stay up to date with news, views, and quilting projects from around the world.  Issue 114 includes an 18 page special on this year's a Pour l'Amour du Fil exhibition in Nantes, France with so many beautiful quilts to look at you'll need a cuppa and a sit down!  You'll also find Petra Prins' Mystery Quilt - Part 4, plus 6 other fabulous projects to inspire you. Order your copy now ~ just phone us on 54721881.

Our shipment of Kona Eggshell fabric for Corliss' Celebrating Mary Brown quilt has finally arrived! We are now filling orders for this background fabric used in the centre blocks ~ just phone us to order yours
Centre blocks of Celebrating Mary Brown by Corliss Searcey ~ pattern, fabrics available.

We've had a little bit of a re-shuffle of some of our reproduction shelves recently.  Here's the shelf of Madders and Cheddars ~ both were popular colours for fabrics and clothing in the second half of the 19th Century  These colours tend to come and go from our shelves, but we have a nice selection at the moment ~ well worth a look.

It seems this week Sam has decided that Corliss' old Dresden Plate quilt is every bit as comfortable to snooze on as her grandmother's 1930's butterfly quilt!  In my next life - I'm definitely coming back as a Spoodle!  Have a great week everyone.

What can you do with an old flat iron?

Not ironing, if we can possibly help it!  Today Kurt brought this beautiful table lamp into Threadbear which he just finished making.  Featuring an old nickel plated flat iron base, it looks fabulous in Kurt's part of the shop, but we had to borrow it to show you all before some lucky person decides to buy it and take it home to their place.  If you think it might need to go to your house, just phone us at the shop for details.

This week American Patch  arrived ~ a fantastic reproduction range from the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum collection. Di Ford Hall joins us for a new class date to teach her Giggleswick Mill Mystery quilt.  The class in July is full.  But we are now taking bookings for a new date Saturday 27 August.  Here's a sneak preview of parts of the quilt which is still a work in progress.

The class will be held here in Castlemaine, 10am-3pm $95.00 payable on booking which will cover your class fee, lunch, morning and afternoon tea. If you'd like to join us, just phone the shop to book your place.  But don't delay as places are filling fast.
Sam's had a busy week in the workshop this week with Kurt. Here he is supervising and making sure no birds come within a 10 metre radius of the shed door!  Have a great week everyone.
